Self reflection During this project I think my time management was well distributed as I spent reasonable amounts of time on each facet of the project. I think I perhaps could have written longer paragraphs on my reasonings. I think that my explanation behind my moodboard was a decent length and well constructed. Moreover, I made the moodboard myself which took creative thinking and process. I spent a reasonable amount of time doing research for this project and found examples of what I thought suited the subject matter. All of this is not to mention that I chose something that I have a great amount of interest in, which allowed me to work efficiently and passionately. Something I could have done differently was chosen a book I hadn't read before, as that would allow me to explore something for the first time and not be as well versed in the subject beforehand. Over the course of this project I learned that 73% of suicide attempt victims which are admitted to hospital are between...
Mood Board http://www.gomoodboard.com/boards/a-4qY395/share I've made this mood board to show parts of the book, from pictures online and from the TV series. From left to right, you start with Clay Jensen, Hannah's best friend. He was destroyed when he found out she took her own life. Number two is a box of tapes, the seven tapes that Clay and thirteen others will listen to. These tapes change each of their lives forever, as does Hannah's suicide. Number three, Hannah Baker herself, moments before she takes her life. In the bottom left, we see Clay, putting his headphones on, getting ready to listen to these tapes. Then you have the water, with the air bubbles. This symbolizes the feeling of helplessness that one may feel before they decide to end their life. The last one is a bunch of pills, Hannah's last decision. This doesn't explain much, but in my opinion, it makes the situation more life like. You can see how it impacts ones around you, how that feelin...
Hannah's Reasons. http://hannahsreasons.blogspot.ca/ This blog shows Hannah Bakers reasons as to why she killed herself. They are vague, even subtle, but are none the less right in front of us. It can be hard to analyse what is going on in someones life, which is why I chose this blog. You can never know how something is going to effect someone, whether it's your actions or your words.
Teens react - YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fk25CDyMZoE This video gets young teens involved and informed on what could happen around them on any given day. In this video, they don't show the suicide scene, but they do talk about it. It is also based off of the TV series, but they are very similar. In the series, Hannah Baker slits her wrists; yes, it is graphic, but it also shows the reality of the situation. One reason why I chose this book was because suicide is the third leading cause of death in teenagers, and it is important for people to know about it. Suicide is a heavy topic, and people tend to avoid it. Around us, people are thinking about going home and swallowing a bottle of pills, because then they will be "pain free". What leads people to do this? Who made someone feel so bad about themselves that their "only other option" is suicide? Who said something they shouldn't have said? There are all sorts of reasons, and most of the ti...
Forever, Forever, Forever Forever in my heart Forever my hope Forever my friend Whatever you do I will still love you - Katie Forester This poem is short and sweet, unlike the book Thirteen Reasons Why.  I like how simple this poem is, and how it reflects the loss, whether its a friend moving, or someone whose passed away, and it shows the effect you have on someones life.
Bullet Just another day, you sat across the room. I guess you noticed me....I never noticed you. Another day goes by, another week is through. You tried to speak to me.....but I never spoke to you. But your words read loud and clear Now that you're not here. You tried to speak to me.....I never spoke to you! If anybody knew what I was going through Is what your letter said If anybody knew what I was gonna do Would they push me to the edge? But that bullet came And we're all to blame Part of that bullet came from me No sticks and stones, but you were black and blue I couldn't see what you were going through Was there something I could say, or something I could do? If I had seen the signs, if I had noticed you. But your words read loud and clear Now that you're not here You tried to speak to me....I never spoke to you. If anybody knew what I was going through Is what your letter said If anybody knew what I was gonna do Would the push me to the e...

High school student Hannah Baker kills herself, and leaves seven tapes. Thirteen people acquire these tapes and are instructed to listen, and then pass on. Everyone on these tapes go to the same high school, and each one of them knows what the other twelve people did. This book shows a teenage boy who has to make some very big decisions throughout the book. It also shows us how important it is to be aware of our actions, as even the littlest thing can impact someone greatly. How much can one thing affect someone's life? “ Every single event documented here may never had happened had you, Alex, not written my name on that list.” -   Jay Asher, Thirteen Reasons Why
